Mississippi
We provided layout and design of a pile-supported 100-foot span steel truss vehicular traffic bridge over a creek. The bridge was assembled adjacent to the site and lifted into place to improve the project schedule. Total cost of construction: $500,000
Open-deck timber trestles on a mainline railroad had deteriorated to a level requiring replacement. Calculations were prepared based on a Cooper E-80 loading for replacing the timber beams with steel beams. STADD/III® structural analysis software was utilized to model the traveling load and design the beams in accordance with the American Railway Engineering Association’s Manual for Railway Engineering. Modifications and repairs to existing pile bents and caps were also designed to accommodate the new steel stringers. Engineering and fabrication drawings were prepared and provided to the owner’s construction group.
Bridge VD150.9 Replacement
Provided structural design for replacement of 50-foot long mainline railroad bridge in Bossier Parish, Lousiana.
Bridge MG-62
Provided structural design for replacement of a 168-foot long mainline railroad bridge near Gulfport, Mississippi.
Bridge MG-193.62
Provided structural design for replacement of a 180-foot long mainline railroad bridge near Meridian, Mississippi.
Bridge MG-31.1
Provided structural design for replacement of a 75-foot long mainline railroad bridge near Gulfport, Mississippi.
Bridge MG-65.0
Provided structural design for replacement of a 40-foot long mainline railroad bridge near Gulfport, Mississippi.
Tensas River Bridge
Provided a visual inspection of a bridge on a mainline railroad over the Tensas River near Delhi, Louisiana. The bridge consisted of multi-span timber approach trestles and a steel truss over the channel. A general review of the structure was made and a report was prepared for the owner outlining the condition of the structure and recommendations for repair.
Tensas River Crossing
Provided structural inspection of mainline railroad bridge over the Tensas River near Delhi, Louisiana. All timber and steel spans were inspected and recommendations for repair were made to the Owner.
An open-deck timber trestle near an urban community on a mainline railroad had deteriorated to a level requiring replacement. Calculations were performed to design steel replacement stringers and pile cap repairs. STADD/III® structural analysis software was utilized to model the traveling Cooper E-80 loads and design the beams in accordance with American Railway Association Manual for Railway Engineering. Complete engineering and fabrication drawings were prepared to accommodate much of the construction and assembly being performed offsite and transported to the site in complete units to minimize disruption of rail traffic.
Bridge VM 109.7
Provided structural design for replacement of 84-foot long mainline railroad bridge near Clinton, Mississippi.
Develop a structural mat to distribute loads from a new railroad track and eliminate the requirement to install casings around numerous below-grade natural gas and oil pipelines. Complete construction drawings were prepared and provided to the Engineer of Record.
Nelson Rail Spur, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana
Provided structural design for crossing of several oil and gas pipelines with a new rail spur.
Rail Feasibility Study
Participated as a member of a team of consultants in an evaluation of the feasibility of expanding the mission of the Port of Gulfport through the purchase, upgrade and operation of an existing railroad from the port to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Evaluated the condition of 41 existing bridges, determined the current load rating and conducted an analysis to predict the potential cost of improving the bridge load ratings and increasing the operating speed.
High Speed Rail Project
Project included corridor selection, route design and cost estimation for a 300 mile high-speed rail line connecting Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
Railroad Bridge Replacement
Provided civil/structural design of steel replacement spans for mainline railroad bridge located near Clinton.
Highway LA-8
Performed hydraulic analysis and drainage design for a widening and realignment project for 10 miles of Louisiana Highway LA-8.
Outlying Material Handling Facilities
Inspected existing bulk storage warehouses, rail load-out facilities and prepared engineering report on remedial repairs. Performed conceptual layout, analysis, and design of numerous bulk material handling facilities for loading and unloading rail cars and barges including bins and hoppers, belt conveyors, screw conveyors, screens, bucket elevators, and associated support structures and foundations.
Gallatin Street Project
Project consisted of widening of Gallatin Street, new roadway bridge and extension of railroad bridge. Responsibilities included inspection of utility relocations, sub-grade preparation, pavement and bridge construction.
