Built in the early 1930’s the Standard Life Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an icon of the Jackson Mississippi skyline. In 2008, plans were developed to renovate the building and convert it to residential space. Advanced Engineering Resources was engaged by HCI Architecture to evaluate the structure for selective demolition to make space for a new stair and other floor penetrations. AER developed a design for the 18-story stair structure to be supported by the existing reinforced concrete structure.
