Observa-Dome Laboratories, Inc., a longtime client of Advanced Engineering Resources, manufactures observatory domes in Jackson Mississippi for installation at locations around the world. These unique structures include bi-parting shutters to expose the sensors located inside and also rotate on their axis without limit, presenting a complex set of design conditions. They are generally installed in remote locations, often on mountain summits subjected to extreme loadings. The domes designed by AER for Observa-Dome range in diameter from 8 to 45 feet. The Magdalena Ridge Observatory is associated with New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech) and is located at elevation 10,600 feet on the South Baldy Ridge in the Magdalena Mountains near Socorro, New Mexico. The observatory dome has a diameter of about 40 feet.
