RAILROAD EMBEDMENT RETAINING WALL

TURTLE COVE BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH STATION, LOUISIANA

New Bulkhead Wall
Structural design of 800 linear feet of tied-back sheet pile wall to replace a timber wall damaged by Hurricane Katrina on the waterway between Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas in south Louisiana. The replacement wall was 800 feet long and varied in height from 10 feet to 18 feet above the mud line. Professional Engineering Consultants, Inc. was the prime consultant for the project.

TOWN OF MADISONVILLE, LOUISIANA

New Bulkhead Wall
Structural design of 850 linear feet of tied-back sheet pile wall to replace a timber wall damaged by Hurricane Katrina on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The wall varied in height up to 12 feet above the mud line and included a reinforced concrete cap, timber mooring piles and drainage through the wall. Professional Engineering Consultants, Inc. was the prime consultant for the project.

KANSAS CITY SOUTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY

New Dock Wall
Designed a new tied-back sheet pile wall for a ship dock on a ship channel in Port Arthur Texas. The existing wall suffered a slope failure and a replacement wall was designed to redefine the dock line, stabilize the slope and allow for dredging of the channel. The 500 foot long wall extended 20 feet above the mud line and was tied back with double wales and helical anchors.

Shoring Review
Provided review of numerous cantilevered, tied-back and braced sheet pile shoring adjacent to a mainline railroad designed by utility companies, Mississippi Department of Transportation and Louisiana Department of Transportation to allow for construction of utilities and roadway bridges adjacent to a mainline railroad without interruption to rail traffic.

Shoring Design
Designed numerous cantilevered, tied-back and braced sheet pile shoring adjacent to a mainline railroad to allow for extensions to bridges and box culverts without interruption to rail traffic. Walls were located along the mainline track between Shreveport, LA and Meridian, MS.

MISSISSIPPI CHEMICAL CORPORATION

Dock Design
Designed a replacement tied-back sheet pile wall for a fertilizer barge loading dock on Bayou Cassotte in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The 300 foot long wall varied in height to 20 feet above the mud line.

ERGON REFINING, INC.

Tank Farm Expansion
Designed tied-back sheet pile wall to facilitate the construction of 120 foot diameter asphalt storage tank adjacent to the Vicksburg, Mississippi dock channel. The wall varied in height up to 17 feet and included wales and ties to battered H-piles.
